An enjoyable couple of hours last night at Gin Festival at Paintworks in Bristol. My sister was on the Opihr stand, answeering questions and dishing out tasters to Bristol’s gin fans. It was a nice even, in a good space. I started the evening with very little understanding of how varied gin can taste. I guess Schweppes tonic and lemons can do that to a drink!
The ones I tried were:
- Opihr (obviously)
- Gin Mare – which was super fresh, with rosemary and orange
- Batch Premium – with a garnish of lime and raspberry, explosive and spicy, very nice
- Williams Chase Extra Dry – which tasted of chocolate and came with a garnish of ginger and lemon
- Steam Punk – served with cucumber and had a clean floral taste.
All good fun. I thoroughly recommend gin festivals!
